The Washington County Freedom Rock Park is one of Iowa's Freedom Rock locations. A place to visit, learn and honor the rich military history and service of ordinary men and women called to do extraordinary things.
The park features the Washington County Freedom Rock, which was unveiled on June 16, 2018. The rock's stunning artwork was completed by artist Ray "Bubba" Sorensen II. Sorensen first began painting Freedom Rocks in 1999 and has since worked to install a piece in each of Iowa's 99 counties. The park also features personalized pavers honoring Washington County servicemen and women, veterans and supporters of the project. The park, which is maintained by The Freedom Rock Committee, is located at the corner of Hwy. 1 & 78 heading into Brighton. Everyone is encouraged to stop and visit the rock and remember and honor those who have served. To learn more about the Washington County Freedom Rock CLICK HERE. The Freedom Rock Park is a 501(c)(3)
